Thomas J. Steele son of James and Judidiah Wood Steele, grandson of
Samuel and Patience Shane Steele. Tom and Terressa had two
children. Sarah Anna Elisabeth Steele was born in January 1855 and
Amanda Rosa Isabel Steele was born in October 1857. Tom died in 1860.
The above information came from a Davidson County, TN Chancery Court
case, James Baker vs W. B. Binkley.
James Steele died in 1849 in New Orleans, LA while there on business.
His widow Judidiah was listed on the Wilson Co., TN census in 1850.
James' father, Samuel Steele was a son of Andrew Steele and Martha
Buchanan Steele. Patience Shane's father was Morris Shane a pioneer
settler of Davidson Co. who came to the settlement in 1780. Patience's
mother was Phoebe Castleman. The Castleman's were pioneer settler's in
middle Tennessee. Terressa "Essie" Easter Wright Steele was a daughter
of John Wright and Lear Dicus who married in Rutherford Co., TN in 1810.
